Univ.-Prof.in Dr.in Patrizia Stoitzner

Patrizia Stoitzner studied Microbiology at the University of Innsbruck and completed her doctoral studies at the University Hospital of Dermatology before pursuing research at the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research in Wellington, New Zealand, from 2005 to 2007. Her expertise lies in the biology of dendritic cells and their role in the skin immune system. Her research focuses on advancing the understanding of how these cells initiate immune responses, with the aim of harnessing their potential for the development of new therapies against skin cancer. Since 2007, Patrizia Stoitzner has led the Laboratory for Langerhans Cell Research at the University Hospital of Dermatology, Venereology, and Allergology in Innsbruck. In 2008, she completed her habilitation in Immunology. In 2020, she was appointed Professor of Experimental Dermatology with a focus on Tumor Immunology at the Medical University of Innsbruck. Since October 2025, she has served as Executive Vice President for Research and International Relations at the Medical University of Innsbruck.
