Short Description
The Medical University of Innsbruck supports its employees in the task of reconciling their professional and family obligations. General staff can take advantage of an attractive flexitime model, taking into account the requirements of the job. This means, for example, that the start and end of daily working hours can be freely chosen within a certain framework. For academic university staff, statutory regulations and the university collective bargaining agreement guarantee a largely flexible organisation of working hours.

Short Description
In order to increase the quality and efficiency of work as well as employee satisfaction and to improve the work-life balance, the Medical University of Innsbruck offers general staff the opportunity to apply for home office and/or remote work up to a maximum of 40% of their normal weekly working hours. In doing so, the university is also emphasising its commitment to environmental protection and sustainability and making an important contribution to reducing daily private transport. The implementation of the requirements and modalities for home office and/or remote work will initially take place as a pilot phase of one year, starting on 1 January 2023, in order to gain experience with this working model.

Short Description
At the Medical University of Innsbruck, work breaks are supported and included in working hours, provided they do not exceed a reasonable amount. The lunch break up to a maximum of half an hour is included in the paid working time if more than six hours are worked on this day and the break is not at the beginning or end of the working time.

Short Description

In addition to public holidays, employees at the Medical University of Innsbruck have the following days off in accordance with the operational requirements

  • on Shrove Tuesday, from 1 p.m,
  • 24 December and
  • New Year's Eve (31 December) all day off.

In addition, the University grants each employee an additional day off (exemption from work obligations with continued payment of remuneration amounting to a maximum of 1/5 of weekly working hours) per calendar year as part of the so-called Works Council Day.

Short Description
New employees who start work in the first half of the year are entitled to their full holiday entitlement in their first year of employment, provided they are employed at the university beyond the end of the year. In addition, general staff members can also use up their holiday entitlement on an hourly basis in consultation with their supervisor. An increased holiday entitlement is available under certain conditions from the age of 43. For employees who belong to the group of registered disabled persons, the collective bargaining agreement of the university provides for an increased holiday entitlement.

Short Description
The Medical University of Innsbruck has its own company kindergarten and can therefore offer 30 children of employees a kindergarten place. The university contributes to the costs of childcare in the form of a subsidy. Places are allocated according to fixed selection criteria.
The university's holiday programme supports working employees with children aged 3 to 12. As part of the company summer, autumn and semester holiday care, children and young people are not only given an exciting and eventful holiday time, but are also taught new knowledge in a fun and enjoyable way.

The Medical University of Innsbruck offers all incoming new employees and their partners and families a successful start in Innsbruck and, respectively, Tyrol. In close cooperation with the Welcome Service Tirol, an initiative of the province of the Tyrol, the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce, the Tyrolean Federation of Industry and the Tyrolean University Conference, they benefit from a comprehensive range of services and individual counselling. The offer includes support with, for example, residence as well as registration matters, finding accommodation, schooling, childcare, language acquisition as well as all other topics that are relevant for employees from abroad or their families. Short Description
The Medical University of Innsbruck supports in particular female employees in transitional and decision-making situations in their careers or, respectively, in career planning with the Helene Wastl Medicine Mentoring Programme. This mentoring programme consists of a comprehensive seminar and continuing education programme for career advancement and personal development, advice and support services for career planning as well as horizontal and vertical networking opportunities. For the part-time doctoral programme in clinical medical sciences, a mentoring programme specially designed for the Clinical PhD programme is offered, in the context of which young scientists with a focus on clinical research are specifically supported and promoted in their individual career planning and further development.

Short Description
In addition to the statutory contributions to health, accident and pension insurance, the Medical University of Innsbruck pays a monthly contribution to the company pension fund. These contributions are invested by Allianz Pensionskasse AG and serve to provide additional retirement, disability and survivors' benefits after termination of employment. It is also possible to make personal contributions, which are subsidised with a state premium.
For civil servants and contract employees covered by the pension fund commitment, an ongoing contribution is made to the Bundespensionskasse AG.

As part of the New Year's Reception, which is jointly organised by ALUMN-I-MED and the Rectorate of the Medical University of Innsbruck, employees, graduates, students, guests of honour as well as sponsors are given a look back as well as a brief outlook on the new year.
The Rectorate team also usually invites all employees of the Medical University of Innsbruck to a staff party once a year as a gesture of thanks and as a sign of appreciation and recognition for their daily commitment. To kick off the winter semester, the university invites its employees to a concert at the Haus der Musik Innsbruck with discounted admission.
For all running and walking enthusiasts, the company run offers the opportunity to take part in the running competition or Nordic walking for the university. The entry fee is covered for all teams. These sporty employees will also be provided with a functional shirt.
