Main research areas
As a modern place of science, the Medical University of Innsbruck combines top medicine and cutting-edge research for the benefit of patients.
As part of its scientific landscape, the Medical University of Innsbruck has defined key research areas under the theme “Molecular Medicine: From the basics to customized patient care”, which demonstrate its innovative strength, offer points of contact for cooperation and reflect its social obligations. The Medical University of Innsbruck is sharpening its profile by focusing specifically on the areas of infection, immunity and transplantation, neurosciences, oncology and the bridging research area of genetics-epigenetics-genomics. A triad of basic research, applied research and special clinical facilities is implemented in each of the MUI's focus areas.
Cross-organizational “Comprehensive Centers” support the networking between clinical and medical-theoretical research.
Comprehensive Centers:
- Comprehensive Cancer Center Innsbruck (CCCI)
- Comprehensive Neuroscience Center Innsbruck (CNCI)
